Our Coop Calm Blend is designed for rapid effectiveness during stressful events. Follow these easy steps to prepare a soothing brew for your flock:

(1) Prepare: Place one (1) tea bag from any of your Feather Renewal blends into a clean, heat-safe container (e.g., a Mason jar or ceramic bowl).

(2) Steep: Pour 2 to 4 cups of freshly boiled water over the tea bag. Cover and let steep for 15–20 minutes, or until cooled to room temperature.

(3) Dilute: Pour the cooled, concentrated tea into a clean 1-gallon chicken waterer.

(4) Fill: Top off the waterer with fresh, cool water to the 1-gallon mark.

(5) Feed Mash Option: Tea may also be used to moisten feed, creating a nutritious mash. This method delivers herbs more directly, avoids birds refusing water due to flavor changes, and works especially well when targeting extra support (e.g., during molt). Offer only what your flock will finish in one sitting to prevent spoilage.

In addition to serving teas in a waterer, you can also make a nutritious mash. This is a great option if your flock doesn’t like flavored water or if you want a more targeted way to deliver the herbs.

(1) Brew: Steep the tea bag in freshly boiled water for 15–20 minutes. Let it cool completely before using.

(2) Mix: Pour the cooled tea over your chickens’ feed, adding just enough to moisten and create a soft mash. The texture should be damp and crumbly — not soupy.

(3) Serve Fresh: Offer the mash right away and only make as much as your flock will finish in one sitting. Toss any leftovers after 24 hours. Always keep plain, fresh water available alongside the mash.

Loud Events: Storms, fireworks, construction noise, or other sudden disturbances can rattle chickens. Serving Coop Calm during or after these events helps maintain hydration and comfort.

Daily Flock Dynamics: If you notice increased squabbles, bullying, or general unrest, this blend can provide gentle, natural support as your flock re-establishes harmony.

Travel or Relocation: Helpful during coop moves, transportation, or any major change in environment.

Usage Frequency: Offer daily for 3–5 consecutive days during the stressful period. This consistency allows the gentle herbs to provide steady support while your flock works through the disruption.

After the Stressor: Once the situation has eased, return to plain, fresh water or resume your flock’s normal rotation with a general wellness blend 4–5 times per week.

Environment: While Coop Calm can help, the most important step is creating a secure and quiet space. Limit loud noises, sudden movements, or unnecessary handling to give your flock time to settle.

Space & Comfort: Ensure your birds have enough room to move without crowding. Overcrowding increases stress and can worsen pecking order disputes.

Nutrition: Keep them on a balanced diet appropriate for their age and purpose. Good nutrition helps their bodies cope with temporary stress and maintain resilience.

Hydration: Provide continuous access to fresh, clean water. Stressed birds may drink less, so making water easily accessible (and even flavored with gentle herbs like those in Coop Calm) can encourage hydration.

Predator Security: After a scare or disturbance, double-check your coop and run for gaps or weak spots. Feeling safe is key to recovery.

Routine: Chickens thrive on consistency. Minimize changes to their daily routine whenever possible until the flock feels settled again.

Short-Term Use Only: Coop Calm is formulated for acute, temporary stressors. It’s best given daily for 3–5 consecutive days while the stressful event is happening (for example, integration, predator aftermath, storms, or coop relocation).

Why Not Longer? The herbs in this blend are very gentle, but they’re meant to provide focused, immediate support — not to replace your flock’s regular wellness rotation. Using it continuously as a daily supplement isn’t necessary and may dilute the purpose of targeted care.

What to Do After: Once the stressful situation passes and your birds have settled, return to offering plain, fresh water and resume your regular wellness routine (such as your seasonal wellness blends 4–5 times per week).

Coop Calm Blend is designed to ease mild restlessness and promote a sense of calm during short-term disruptions, which can help your flock feel more settled overall. That said, it isn’t a solution for ongoing behavioral issues or serious aggression.

If challenges persist, it’s important to look deeper for underlying causes such as overcrowding, limited resources, or environmental stressors. Make sure your birds have adequate space, proper nutrition, and a safe environment.

For more severe or ongoing concerns, consulting a veterinarian or poultry behavior specialist is always recommended.

Coop Calm Blend is generally safe for adult chickens and mature pullets (10+ weeks old) during times of stress.

For younger chicks (2–10 weeks), use should be approached with extra caution. While the herbs in this blend are gentle, chicks at this stage have developing systems and should primarily receive starter feed and plain water for steady growth. If considering use before 10 weeks, we recommend offering only very small amounts and consulting a veterinarian first.
