Brewing & Serving Instructions (For All Blends, Makes 1 Gallon)

Our Flockfolk Feather Renewal teas are designed for simplicity and effectiveness. Follow these easy steps to prepare a delicious and supportive brew for your flock:

(1) Prepare: Place one (1) tea bag from any of your Feather Renewal blends into a clean, heat-safe container (e.g., a Mason jar or ceramic bowl).

(2) Steep: Pour 2 to 4 cups of freshly boiled water over the tea bag. Cover the container and let steep for 15-20 minutes, or until the tea has fully cooled to room temperature.

Pro Tip: For a stronger brew or for herbs like Horsetail (in Repair & Restore), a longer steep time up to 30 minutes is fine, just ensure it cools completely before diluting.

(3) Dilute: Pour the cooled, concentrated tea into a clean 1-gallon chicken waterer.

Fill: Top off the waterer with fresh, cool water to the 1-gallon mark.

How to Serve Your Flock for Optimal Results:

Always provide a second waterer containing only plain, fresh water. This is crucial to ensure your flock always has access to pure water, especially in hot weather, and allows them to choose.

Serve the herbal tea fresh each day. Discard any unused portion after 24 hours to ensure optimal freshness and prevent bacterial growth.

Clean your waterers thoroughly between uses.

Understanding Herbal Rotation: Your Feather Renewal System Explained

The true power of this collection lies in the art of rotation! Just like a varied diet is healthier for us, a varied herbal routine brings a broader spectrum of supportive nutrients for your flock.

This approach prevents their systems from becoming desensitized to specific herbs and ensures they receive comprehensive, ongoing wellness benefits throughout the molting process.

For Consistent Support & General Wellness:

We recommend serving these gentle, nutritive teas 4-5 times per week, rotating between the three blends (Feather Fuel, Smooth Molt, and Repair & Restore).

This consistent, varied approach helps maintain optimal hydration, nutrition, and overall comfort throughout the molting period.

Customizing Your Usage

Light Molting / General Feather Health: Any of the three blends 4-5 times per week can support ongoing feather health, even outside of a heavy molt.

Moderate to Heavy Molting / Post-Stress Recovery: During peak molting or after significant stressors (e.g., predator scares, rehoming) that have impacted feathers, you can increase frequency as needed, rotating between the blends.

Important Usage Limit: For the targeted, potent support of Repair & Restore, use this blend no more than once per week within your rotation.

Complementary Care: Always provide fresh, plain water on remaining days (2-3 times per week), or anytime your flock seems to prefer it.

Feather Renewal Blend & Molting FAQ

What Is Molting?

Molting is the natural process where chickens shed their old feathers and grow in new ones. It typically happens once a year, often in the fall, and can be quite demanding on a chicken's body as feather production requires a lot of protein and nutrients. During a molt, chickens might look a bit ragged, have bare patches, and their egg-laying may decrease or stop entirely. Our Feather Renewal Blend Pack is designed to provide comprehensive support during this crucial time.

How long does molting last?

The duration of a molt can vary widely depending on the individual chicken, its age, health, and breed. A light or partial molt might last just a few weeks, while a heavy, complete molt can take 8-16 weeks (2 to 4 months) to finish. Our Feather Renewal Blend Pack provides support throughout this entire period.

Can non-molting birds drink these teas?

Yes, absolutely! While specifically formulated for molting birds, the herbs in our Feather Renewal Blend Pack are nutritive and supportive for any chicken (hens, roosters, and pullets 10+ weeks old). They offer general vitality, skin support, and mineral benefits. The rotation ensures a varied intake of these beneficial herbs.
