Brewing & Serving Instructions (For All Blends, Makes 1 Gallon)

Our Summer Wellness teas are designed for simplicity and effectiveness. Follow these easy steps to prepare a delicious and supportive brew for your flock:

(1) Prepare: Place one (1) tea bag from any of your Summer Wellness blends into a clean, heat-safe container (e.g., a Mason jar or ceramic bowl).

(2) Steep: Pour 2 to 4 cups of freshly boiled water over the tea bag. Cover the container and let steep for 15-20 minutes, or until the tea has fully cooled to room temperature.

Pro Tip: For a stronger brew, or if you prefer a cooler start, you can pre-make a larger batch of the "concentrate" and store it in the fridge for up to 24 hours before diluting.

(3) Dilute: Pour the cooled, concentrated tea into a clean 1-gallon chicken waterer.

Fill: Top off the waterer with fresh, cool water to the 1-gallon mark.

How to Serve Your Flock for Optimal Results:

Always provide a second waterer containing only plain, fresh water. This is crucial to ensure your flock always has access to pure water, especially in hot weather, and allows them to choose.

Serve the herbal tea fresh each day. Discard any unused portion after 24 hours to ensure optimal freshness and prevent bacterial growth.

Clean your waterers thoroughly between uses.

Understanding Herbal Rotation: Your Summer Wellness System Explained

The true power of this collection lies in the power of rotation! Just like a varied diet is healthier for us, a varied herbal routine brings a broader spectrum of supportive nutrients for your flock.

This approach prevents their systems from becoming desensitized to specific herbs and ensures they receive comprehensive, ongoing wellness benefits throughout the warmer months.

For Consistent Support & General Wellness:

We recommend serving these gentle, nutritive teas 4-5 times per week, rotating between the three blends (Sunny Sips, GreenGlow Tonic, and Coop Breeze)

This consistent, varied approach helps maintain optimal hydration, digestion, and overall comfort during warm weather.

Complementary Care:

Always provide fresh, plain water on remaining days (2-3 times per week), or anytime your flock seems to prefer it.

Summer Wellness Blends FAQ

What are the benefits of using herbal teas for chickens in warm weather?

Even healthy chickens can experience stress from warm temperatures. Our Summer Wellness Blends are designed to encourage consistent hydration (which is vital), support healthy digestion, and promote overall comfort. Herbs like peppermint and spearmint offer natural cooling sensations, while others support healthy circulation and digestion, helping your flock stay vibrant and resilient when the mercury rises.

Can these blends help with heat stress?

These blends offer gentle support to help your flock adapt to warm weather and maintain comfort. They encourage hydration and provide natural digestive and circulatory support. However, they are not a substitute for proper heat stress management. Always ensure your birds have constant access to fresh, cool water, ample shade, good ventilation, and consider other cooling measures like frozen treats or misters during extreme heat. If your birds show signs of severe heat stress (e.g., heavy panting, lethargy, open-mouth breathing), seek veterinary advice immediately.

Can I use these blends year-round, or only in summer?

While specifically formulated for warm weather, the gentle, nutritive herbs in these blends (like Lemon Balm, Rosehips, and Nettle) are largely beneficial year-round for general wellness and hydration. However, for colder months, you might find our Winter Wellness or Extreme Cold Support blends more specifically tailored to your flock's seasonal needs. We encourage rotating our seasonal collections for balanced support throughout the year.

My chickens aren't drinking as much in the heat. Will these teas help?

Yes, often the pleasant aroma and subtle flavor of herbal teas can encourage chickens to drink more than they might plain water, which is incredibly important for hydration during warm weather. Remember to always provide a separate source of plain water, giving your flock a choice.

I live in a consistently hot climate, how should I use your Summer Wellness and Extreme Heat Support blends?

If you live in a region where warm temperatures (e.g., 85°F-100°F) are the norm for many months of the year, your flock needs consistent, proactive support.

We recommend the following strategy:

Your Everyday Hot Weather Hero: Our Summer Wellness Blends

For you, our Summer Wellness Blends (Sunny Sips, GreenGlow Tonic, Coop Breeze) become your year-round or continuous-season wellness foundation. These blends are designed to encourage consistent hydration, support digestion, and promote overall comfort during your normal, sustained warm weather.

Usage: Integrate these into your regular 4-5 times per week rotation, as a continuous part of your flock's routine during your extended warm season. This provides sustained, gentle support for normal high temperatures.

For the Toughest Days: Our Extreme Heat Support Blends

Our Extreme Heat Support Blends (Flockfolk Summer Cool & Comfort) are your targeted response for true heat emergencies.

These blends are formulated for severe heat events – when temperatures reach alarming levels (e.g., 105°F+, or prolonged stretches of 100°F+ that even your seasoned flock struggles with), unexpected heat spikes, or during periods of crisis.

Usage: Reserve these blends for those specific, acute periods. Use them daily for 3-5 consecutive days during such an event, then transition back to your Summer Wellness Blends or plain water as the extreme conditions ease.

In summary: Think of Summer Wellness as your long-term, routine support for sustained warmth, while Extreme Heat Support is your emergency response kit for when conditions become truly critical, even by your climate's standards.
